Life Care Center of Yuma’s dancing Christmas lights draw crowds

It was a Christmas season like never before for residents and associates at Life Care Center of Yuma, Arizona.

From the day after Thanksgiving 2017 until Jan. 5, 2018, the building was an area attraction in addition to a skilled nursing and rehab center. Hundreds of guests, as well as the center’s residents and staff, either drove up to the facility or sat on the lawn to watch the lights dancing to a variety of music....

National Nursing Home Week 2017 was a very busy week at Life Care Center of Yuma, Arizona.

The theme was The Spirit of America, so it was only right that Monday, May 15, started with Red, White and Blue Day. The colors of the USA could be seen all throughout the facility, from associates to residents to even some family members. Residents and associates also tried to outdo each other with crazy hairstyles....

Life Care Center of Yuma residents have Coffee with a Cop

On June 12, 2017, Life Care Center of Yuma, Arizona, offered Coffee with a Cop.

The facility teamed up with the Yuma Police Department to give the residents a unique way to engage with the community. Fifteen officers came out to enjoy coffee and an assortment of doughnuts with the residents, associates and family members....

Life Care Center of Yuma hosts Easter egg hunt

On April 14, 2017, Life Care Center of Yuma, Arizona, hosted its annual Easter Egg Hunt.

All associates, residents and their family members were invited to participate in the hunt. The activities department, with the help of volunteers, hid more than 300 eggs on the front lawn....

Life Care Center of Yuma hosts Cinco de Mayo celebration

On May 5, 2017, Life Care Center of Yuma, Arizona, celebrated Cinco de Mayo.

The delicious day started off with a facility salsa tasting contest. Five associates entered their special salsa recipes, and almost every resident, along with their family members and other associates, participated in the tasting and voting.

Life Care Center of Yuma celebrates St. Patrick’s Day

On March 17, 2017, the activities staff at Life Care Center of Yuma, Arizona, celebrated St. Patrick’s Day.

Students from Aztec High School delivered handmade shamrocks for the residents. Afterward, Oscar Chavez performed country-western and some Spanish songs on the guitar for the residents. The day closed out with root beer floats.

Life Care Center of Yuma participates in Christmas light parade

For the second consecutive year, the activities department at Life Care Center of Yuma, Arizona, entered the 2016 Dorothy Young Memorial Electric Light Parade.

Held in downtown Yuma, the parade took place on Dec. 10. This year’s theme was Western rodeo.

Life Care Center of Yuma residents enjoy Christmas party

Christmas held gifts galore this year for residents at Life Care Center of Yuma, Arizona.

All associates got involved and selected a resident’s name from the Christmas tree leading up to the holiday, and when the annual Resident Christmas Party came around on Dec. 21, 2016, every resident had something to open.

The activity department at Life Care Center of Yuma, Arizona, ended 2016 with an early New Year’s Eve celebration for residents on Dec. 30, 2016.

The party took place at 2 p.m., and all of the residents who attended dressed up in fun New Year’s attire. Homemade fudge, brownies, cheesecake and cookies were provided, as well as sparkling ciders, coffee, flavored teas and soft drinks.

Life Care Center of Yuma residents go to see San Diego Padres

On Aug. 21, 2016, residents from Life Care Center of Yuma, Arizona, attended a San Diego Padres vs. Arizona Diamondbacks game at Petco Park in California.

Activities Director Heather McDermott was able to get tickets donated for associates and residents. Activity, therapy and nursing associates made plans to take several residents on a field trip to watch the game.

Life Care Center of Yuma celebrates National Nursing Home Week

Life Care Center of Yuma, Arizona, began its celebration of National Nursing Home Week on May 9, 2016.

Residents and associates enjoyed different refreshments each day and participated in activities and games throughout the week, including a balloon release, a hula hoop contest and a wheelchair race.
